Keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections 2024, BJP has started the work of wooing Purvanchali voters. The party has started the ‘Modi Sang Badh Chala Purvanchal’ campaign in Delhi, which will continue till the Lok Sabha elections. Under this, those beneficiary families of Purvanchal, who have taken advantage of any welfare scheme of the Central Government, are being contacted. By meeting such families, BJP is honoring them and trying to integrate them with itself. Efforts are being made to connect Purvachali families with the party by organizing special programs in 14 organizational districts of Delhi BJP.
What is the reason?
According to an estimate, about one-third of the voters in Delhi are people coming from UP and Bihar. This huge section of voters has the ability to single-handedly change the outcome of seats. This voter class was earlier associated with Congress, but later it has come with BJP. Even at present, this class is mostly inclined towards BJP while to some extent it has joined Congress or Aam Aadmi Party.
In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won all the seven seats of Delhi. The biggest victory among these was of Hansraj Hans, who contested on BJP ticket from North Western seat and Manoj Tiwari, who contested from North Eastern Lok Sabha seat. This is the same area where the largest number of Purvanchali voters live. BJP wants to achieve a big victory in this election by appealing to this class.
